Alexia is a loss of ability to read correctly due to brain injury.

Agraphy is the inability to write correctly whose cause is also a brain injury.

Agraphia usually occurs in conjunction with other language disorders (especially aphasia and alexias). Therefore, cases of pure agraphy are very rare in which the only difficulty related to language affects writing and no other ability.
