Dysphagia is the difficulty or impossibility of swallowing, which can have numerous consequences, ranging from a total inability to swallow, coughing or even suffocation when food or liquids enter the trachea (a condition known as aspiration). This prevents the intake of food and fluids from being insufficient and, therefore, that dehydration and malnutrition can develop on the part of the person who suffers from it.
